Breast Augmentation at Eagle Aesthetics & Surgery

We offer a comprehensive range of breast surgery services to help women enhance their appearance and confidence. Our Director of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Timothy Shim, will work with you to determine the best treatment for your individual goals and needs.

The Breast

The breasts are a key part of a woman’s appearance, confidence and identity. Composed of fatty tissue, skin, ligaments and milk-producing glands and ducts, breasts have a natural tendency to alter with weight changes, pregnancy, aging and other life stages. While some women feel comfortable accepting these changes, others opt to restore or enhance their breasts through surgery.

At Eagle Aesthetics & Surgery, our experienced plastic surgeon Dr Timothy Shim specialises in procedures that can reshape, lift and augment the breasts to suit individual needs and goals.

Whether you desire larger breasts, smaller breasts, improved symmetry or perkier contours, we aim to help you achieve natural-looking results and heightened self-esteem.

Types of Breast Surgeries

There are several types of breast surgeries performed to meet varying goals and medical needs:

Breast Augmentation Surgery

This increases the size and fullness of small or underdeveloped breasts via silicone or saline implants placed underneath or behind breast tissue. Fat grafting is another augmentation option.

Breast Reduction Surgery

For breasts that are disproportionately large, a reduction removes excess fat, skin and tissue to alleviate pain or discomfort while creating a fuller shape.

Breast Lift Surgery

Also known as a mastopexy, a breast lift raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing extra skin and firming remaining tissue for a more perky contour.

Reconstruction Surgery

Reconstructive procedures rebuild breast tissue that has been previously removed due to cancer treatment, trauma or congenital abnormalities. Implants, flaps or fat grafting can restore shape and symmetry.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures for increasing bust size and fullness. It can be performed using breast implants placed surgically or through fat grafting.

Breast Implants

  • Our surgeons have extensive experience in implant selection and placement techniques.

Implants can be filled with either saline or silicone gel filled, with a textured or smooth exterior, and round or anatomical-shaped.

Saline vs Silicone Implants

  • Saline implants are filled with saline after implantation. Silicone implants are pre-filled with cohesive silicone gel that mimics breast texture.
  • Silicone feels more naturally soft. Saline is safer in case of rupture as contents can be absorbed.

Textured vs Smooth Shells

  • Textured shells have a rough surface to prevent slippage and reduce capsular contracture risks. However, they are associated with a rare lymphoma.
  • Smooth shells slide more easily and may contribute to capsular contracture.
  • Microtextured shell implants developed can help to reduce these risks.

Round vs Anatomical Shapes

  • Round implants retain a round profile from all angles but may look artificially spherical.
  • Anatomical or teardrop-shaped implants taper slightly towards the bottom for a more natural tear-dropped look from side profiles. Their shape is maintained with gravity over time.

Fat Grafting

Fat is harvested from other areas like the abdomen, thighs or back through liposuction. The fat is then processed to concentrate the fat cells and remove impurities. It is injected into the breast tissue in a layered fashion to augment size in a natural way.

Multiple treatments may be required months apart to gradually achieve the desired size with natural settling of fat cells.

Final size may vary as some fat cells are reabsorbed, so over-correction is done initially. Long-term results can last up to 2 years but may fluctuate with weight changes over time.

Advantages of Fat Grating

  • Uses the patient’s own tissue, reduced risk of rejection
  • Results in a very soft, natural breast texture similar to normal breasts.
  • No implant means less risks than silicone and no chance of capsular contracture.
  • Fat grafting can be used to augment a cup size one to two sizes or do touch-ups of existing implants.

Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, involves removing excess fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts. The surgery reshapes and proportions the breasts for an aesthetic contour suited to each patient’s body frame. It provides relief from physical symptoms and boosts confidence through an improved appearance.

Is Breast Reduction suitable for me?

Women over the age of 18 who have experienced discomfort or embarrassment due to breasts at least cup size DD may be suitable candidates.

  • Boosts confidence through proportionate, aesthetic breasts
  • Comfort throughout procedure under total anaesthesia
  • Natural, long-lasting results

Breast Lift

Sagging breasts can make women feel unconfident and older than their age. If oversized breasts or weight loss have caused nipple droop and skin redundancy, it may be time to consider a breast lift for a perkier profile.

What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, surgically removes excess skin and tightens remaining skin of the breasts. It raises and firms sagging breasts by repositioning the nipple higher on the breast. This lifts and improves overall breast shape, size and symmetry.

Is a Breast Lift suitable for me?

Women who have lost breast elasticity and fullness due to factors like nursing, major weight changes or simply aging are ideal candidates. A consultation with our experienced plastic surgeons will determine severity of the condition as well as appropriateness of the procedure.

Breast Reconstruction

What is Breast Reconstruction?

Breast reconstruction can help women who have undergone mastectomy due to breast cancer feel whole again.

Using tissue-expanding implants or tissue flap procedures at other parts of the body, our skilled surgeons can build a new breast mound and custom design a beautiful, natural breast shape to give you your confidence back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Breast Augmentation

What implant shapes and sizes are available?

Round and teardrop implants come in a wide range of profiles from modest to large. Your surgeon can recommend the best options based on your goals and anatomy.

How much volume increase can be expected from fat grafting alone?

Fat grafting alone can provide a modest 1/2 to 1 cup size increase on average, depending on the initial breast size and amount of fat that can be safely transferred in each session. Multiple sessions may be required.

How long will implants last?

Saline and silicone gel implants are intended to be permanent but generally last 10-15 years before needing potential replacement due to normal wear and tear. Some, however, may last decades.

Our experienced plastic surgeons will be able to advise during the 1-to-1 consultation before the procedure.

Is fat grafting permanent?

While fat grafting has a very natural result, not all of the transferred fat cells will survive long-term. Additional fat grafting sessions may be needed to maintain the volume increase over many years.

Can fat gradting be done to other parts of the body?

In addition to the breasts, common recipient areas include the buttocks, hands, and facial areas like cheeks and lips. Fat grafting is a versatile technique for balancing proportions.

Can implants affect mammograms or breastfeeding?

Implants should not interfere with mammograms.

While implants themselves don't prevent breastfeeding, rupture would require removal and possibly replacement, so natural feeding may not be possible until healing is complete. It is recommended for you to complete your family planning before considering a breast augmentation with implants.

How much does breast augmentation cost?

Breast Augmentation at Eagle Aesthetics & Surgery start from $18k including implant, facility fee and anaesthetist fee. Additional costs can include medication and implant stabilizing bra.

Breast Reduction

How much breast volume can typically be removed?

A breast reduction often removes 500g or more of breast tissue per side to achieve 1-2 cup sizes of reduction, providing significant relief from pain. The exact amount removed is determined individually during a 1-to-1 consultation with our experienced and professional plastic surgeons.

Where are the scars and will they be visible?

Scarring depends on the technique but most commonly involves an anchor-shaped scar around the lower part of the areola. Proper scar care is important and many scars fade to fine lines.

Breast Lift

Can a breast lift be performed after childbirth or weight changes?

It is best to wait until breastfeeding is complete and your weight is stable for at least 6-12 months before a lift for the most accurate results. Changes could cause the lift to drop more quickly.

What is the difference between a breast lift alone vs with implants?

A lift alone addresses skin redundancy and lifting. Adding implants provides augmentation and fuller projection as well as a lift. Breast Lift can be done together with Breast Augmentation to achieve the goal look and profile.

How long will breast lift results last?

With implants, results can last many decades, but natural ageing and gravity will cause breasts to slowly sag over 7-10 years requiring possible touch-up procedures.
