The Liposuction Process
During your consultation, Dr Timothy Shim will thoroughly examine the areas of concern and develop a customised liposuction treatment strategy.
On the day of your scheduled surgery, you will receive local anaesthesia to numb the treatment regions. Advanced tumescent techniques to deliver controlled amounts of solution containing numbing medications, fluids, and medication to constrict blood vessels. The liposuction equipment then gently breaks up fat cells before carefully extracting them via tiny incisions.
The treated area can be painstaking sculpted to achieve a result that is natural-looking, through precision contouring without excessive blood loss.
It is typically an outpatient procedure, however, you may need an overnight stay for significant fat removal.
Recovery From Liposuction
Days 1-3
You may experience moderate pain and soreness that can be managed with prescribed medication. You will also be prescribed compression garments, which should be worn diligently to reduce swelling and improve contour. Rest and limit unnecessary activity.
Weeks 1-2
Pain reduces significantly. Most people can return to work after 2 weeks. Compression garments should continue to be worn.
Weeks 3-5
At around 1 month, patients typically do not feel any more pain and soreness. Some swelling may still remain. After about 4 weeks, most are able to resume light exercise, though you should still avoid strenuous activity.
Week 6+
Most bruising and swelling should subside. Depending on your healing and the instructions of the surgeon, compression garments may no longer be needed. You may also fully see results by this point. Enjoy your new body!
